The GM's Guide is a podcast all about writing and game design through the lens of RPGs and how to run a great game. Today we're tackling Plot Twists, one of the most powerful and easy to misuse devices there is. We go through the five essential criteria of executing a good plot twist with examples from my own games and mass media. Sound fun? Then you're the strange type of person that I can get along with. Let's get started!

Just wanted to say I enjoy your podcast a lot. Stumbled across it recently (~ August 2017) and have listened to most of the episodes a couple of times now. I have been DMing for ~25 years and have learned much of what you are talking about through countless errors. The way you explain things is great (story structure, level design, etc.) and easy to understand. I wish I could send this podcast back in time so I could have listened to it when I was just starting out. I have recommended it to several newer DMs. Excellent stuff.

I do have one question for you. You mentioned using a player questionnaire for your raven shadow game. How did you develop that and are there any examples you might suggest looking at? I have kicked around the idea of creating a questionnaire in the past but have never actually tried.
